Exposure is the amount of receivable payments a leasing company has outstanding on your account. So if your payments are a thousand dollars a month for 36 months the leasing companies exposure is 36 thousand dollars minus any payments you have made.

Leasing companies have a maximum borrowing rate for a customer and your exposure may exceed that borrowing rate and then the leasing company will not lease you any more equipment.

In laymen’s terms it is a comfort level the leasing company has for each customer and once you have exceed that comfort level the leasing company will not want to put more money into your business
